Men’s Jiujitsu Class Astoria OR
January 14th was our first Bjj class. Joel, Sam and Victor came. We trained arm drag to back take to take down. Then we worked stabilization from top mount and an umpa roll escape from bottom mount. Thanks for coming guys. Men’s Jiujitsu class Astoria OR January 16th Sam and Victor in attendance today. We worked on butterfly sweeps. Thanks for coming guys. Mens Jiujitsu class Astoria OR January 21st Joel came to class we worked on using strikes to close distance from standing and we worked arm-bars on the ground. Thanks for coming Joel. Men’s Jiujitsu Class Astoria OR Jan 23rd Joel and Sam came and we worked foot sweep takedowns to side control to top mount to monkey mount to s mount to arm-bar. We also worked escape side control bottom to guard and pass guard from posturing up to your feet to open guard. Thanks for coming guys. Men’s Jiujitsu Classes Astoria OR Jan 28th Victor came and I loaned him a gi so we could work on dominating grips with the gi. We also worked on the concept of climbing the other guy like a ladder and controlling each rung along the way. It is interesting to note that you tend to climb down the ladder to for take downs and up the ladder for ground work. Thanks for coming Victor. We worked headlock and head and arm escapes from the ground as well as passing the guard to get under hooks so as to avoid headlock escape position. Thanks for coming guys. Feb 4th Dean came. I met Dean back in 2008. He was a white belt then and I was a blue belt in the winter of 2008 during which time I received tow stripes on my blue belt. Currently Dean is a four stripe blue belt. Dean and I started with positional sparing then added tap outs, we finished up with maintaining mount concepts. Good class and good to see Dean again. Thanks for coming Dean. Men’s Jiujitsu classes Astoria OR Feb 6th Dean and Joel came and we worked push pull concepts for takedowns from standing and sweeps from guard. Thanks for coming guys. Men’s Jiujitsu classes Astoria OR Feb 11th Justin came for his first class he has shotokon karate and wrestling experience so we got right into the four Bjj steps; Take down, Pass Guard, Stabilization in top mount and Ezequial choke for the Submission. Thanks for coming Justin. Men’s Jiujitsu Class Astoria OR Feb 13th Joel came we worked the stack pass ie São Paulo pass as well as standing up to break guard and then doing a double under pass. We also worked the basic idea of transitioning from side control to top mount. Thanks for coming Joel. Men’s Jiujitsu Class Astoria OR Feb 18 Dean and Joel came they already know the 4 Bjj steps so we just worked on # 4 Submissions ie arm bar, triangle omoplata from guard. Dean is handy to have around because he knows little details that I am unaware of. Thanks Dean and Joel for coming. Men’s jiujitsu class Astoria Oregon Feb 20th Joel came and we did a whole class on transition from side control to mount. Good class and thanks for coming Joel. men’s jiujitsu class Astoria or Feb 25th No one came so Gus, Don Fidel and I practiced Filipino martial arts. men’s jiujitsu classes Astoria or Feb 27th Jamie came we worked side control to mount transition and mount stabilization. Thanks for coming Jamie. men’s Bjj classes Astoria Oregon March 2nd John came for his first class he has wrestling experience and we talked about the 4 Bjj steps; Takedown, Pass guard, and Position before Submission. We topped it off with omoplata from the guard. John encouraged me to start this blog and so here it is. Thanks John. men’s jiujitsu classes Astoria Oregon March 5th Jamie and John came and we did pull guard to back take to rear naked choke and gi choke as well as bow and arrow choke. We also really worked on stabilizing our position on the back. We did the techniques gi and no gi which is very important because the grips are different for both. Thanks for coming guys. May 19 2020
men’s jiujitsu class Bret and Luis came and we worked ko uchi gari takedown and stabilization in top mount. We also covered what to do if bottom guy does an umpa (bridge and roll) escape. Key concepts for tonight were control the hips and head so you don’t get punched Men’s BJJ class. May 21-2020 We had three students tonight and we worked push/Pull concepts to achieve kusushi/ unbalancing on the feet. This then transitioned into a takedown. On the ground we worked controling the opponents hips and head using by using big leg muscles and leverage Men’s jiujitsu class May 26 we worked kususui/ unbalancing on the feet and hip and head control on the ground mens BJJ class May 28 we worked smashing and posturing to pass guard and we worked 3 in the hole to avoid getting tapped out while in guard Men’s jiujitsu class June 2nd 2020 we worked pendulum sweep and tap outs from guard Men’s jiujitsu class June 4th 2020
Brian and Eric came. We worked push pull concepts from standing and from guard. Standing throws were o goshi/ hip toss, lateral drop (Eric helped coach this one) and o uchi gari/ inside trip. From guard we worked single and double leg x and flower and pendulum sweeps. main concept of class is if the other guy pushes then you must pull and if he pulls then you must push. Men’s jiujitsu class June 9th 2020 we did trips and sweeps o Soto gari ,o uchi ,Ko uchi, lateral drop and hiza guruma. Butterfly sweep on the ground and double x sweep off of the butterfly entry. Finished with arm bar from mount. Men’s jiujitsu class June 11th 2020
We worked tomanage and guard pulling as well as sweeps from guard and kimora from guard Mens Jiu-Jitsu class June 16th 2020 we worked takedowns/ king of mat - ankle lock from guard- played pass guard or sweep June 18th 2020 Men’s jiujitsu class we did deap half guard stuff- free rolling and side control to mount transition July 23 Men’s BJJ. if you have read this far then you will probably be interested in our Facebook page.
